The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce is helping people stay occupied while social restrictions are in place.
For 10 years its website had featured a wide range of local events and distributed a regular “What’s On in South Canterbury” e-newsletter to 3000 subscribers, chief executive Wendy Smith said.
“With the changes brought about by lockdown and [Alert] Level 4 restrictions we decided that our community should not miss out so a virtual range of activities, events and workshops have been sourced .. so our community stays connected.
“The places you can now go from your own family bubble are extraordinary.”
The content included “sections for kids, local options and adventures, further choices from around New Zealand plus global exploration; a mystery box, foodie heaven, staying in shape and mindfulness”.
Mrs Smith said the events were being updated and distributed each week.
“If you’ve missed the Timaru Libraries or SC Museum, fancy a local fitness class, trip to San Diego Zoo or prefer to listen to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra or take up the YMCA’s daily challenge, it is all here for your enjoyment.
“We are thrilled to be bringing our communities, our families, colleagues and friends such a wide range of opportunities while we all work together to fight Covid-19,” she said.
