Geraldine High School will host the 2018 Aoraki heats of the Sheilah Winn Shakespeare competition on Wednesday.
The South Canterbury edition of the annual high school Shakespeare competition will be held at the school at 1pm.
The celebration of Shakespeare returns for the 27th year, with groups of school pupils performing 5-minute to 15-minute scenes from the bard’s plays.
The Aoraki heats are part of the national SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival 2018, the finals of which will be held later this year.
You might see anything from a steampunk Romeo and Juliet brawl scene, a te reo Hamlet or classic Elizabethan The Comedy of Errors hilarity.
Watch old favourites with a new twist, or scenes from lesser-known plays dusted off and brought to light.
Tickets to watch the performances are $5 and can be purchased from the school or at the door.
