The Baroque Music Community and Educational Trust of New Zealand is putting on a chamber music concert series in Christchurch and Timaru.

The first concert will feature young, talented emerging artists from the University of Canterbury alongside professional musicians Tomas Hurnik, of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, on cello, and Mark Menzies, professor of violin from the University of Canterbury.

The Back to Baroque Chamber Series will include Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No4 and other hidden gems of Baroque music.

The musicians who will perform are Menzies (solo violin), Kamala Bain (recorder I), Lily Doak (recorder II), Tomas Hurnik (cello), Daniel Cooper (harpsichord) and the University of Canterbury string ensemble.

The first Timaru concert of the series will be held at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Saturday at 6pm.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are cash only.
