Watercolours, acrylics, photography, sculpture and sketches are among the artistic creations on show at the South Canterbury Art Society’s exhibition from today.
The autumn exhibition will be open from today (Friday) to Sunday from 10am to 4pm, at the society’s premises at 22 Gleniti Rd.
South Canterbury Art Society president Sue Connelly said while the building was getting a new roof – and had scaffolding and other construction gear around the place – it was open to the public.
While previous exhibitions had shown artworks from artists from around the region, this event would only feature the work of the society’s artists, Ms Connolly said.
About 80 artworks by between 20 and 25 artists are expected to be on display in the exhibition.
They would be available to buy but it was not a “cash and carry” event, and buyers were welcome to come back on the Sunday afternoon to pick up their new artworks, Ms Connolly said.
She invited all to come along to the exhibition and also mentioned the society was always looking for new members to join its regular Thursday art sessions at the Gleniti Rd premises.
The society was “in good heart”, she said.
